Abayomi Arabambi, the factional National Publicity Secretary of the Labour Party, has claimed that some Obidients assigned as party agents fled with election results due to non-payment for their services.
During an interview on Arise Television on Friday, Arabambi stated that the Labour Party has been deceiving Nigerians regarding the reasons for the party’s electoral failure.

Arabambi noted that among 189,000 polling units, the Labour Party could not account for 54,000, mentioning that the party lacked the polling unit results to bring to the election tribunal.
“We performed poorly in 54,000 polling unit. We lacked the election results to present to the Tribunal. They used numerous Obidients as party agents (and) since they could not receive N10,000, they ran off with the results,” Arabambi asserted.
He further claimed that Aisha Yesufu, Valentine Ozigbo, Pastor Itua Ighodalo, and Oseloka Obaze were accountable for the party’s defeat in the election.
According to him, they were accountable for the party’s defeat because they were managing the party’s campaign finances.

Arabambi stated that the Labour Party’s failure to produce complete election results was the reason the party could not file its petition within 21 days, as required by the Electoral Act.
He remarked that to conceal their errors, the party leaders went to court and deceived against the judiciary.
“We went to that court to deceive against the judiciary, since we were the ones that failed. As I mentioned, the four individuals responsible, one resigned four days ago, another defected to the APC, while Aisha Yesufu and Pastor Ighodalo remain. They handled all of the party’s finances,” he stated.
He questioned how his party asserted it won the election when it could not deploy agents in 54,000 polling units.
He opined that this was the root cause of the crisis in the Labour Party, adding that Peter Obi wanted the matter concealed.
