Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has been praised for his “shrewd” squad management in Manchester United’s win over Southampton.

The Norwegian saw his side stick nine past the Saints at Old Trafford, equalling a Premier League record in the process.

Solskjaer opted to hook Cavani at half -time despite the Uruguayan finding the back of the net.

He also left Paul Pogba sat on the bench for the duration, but  Berbatov was impressed with his decision.

United dropped seven points in January which allowed rivals Manchester City to steal a march in the title race.

Berbatov now hopes that the Red Devils can push on this weekend with a squad of players who are being kept fresh. He told Betfair: “It was good to see Anthony Martial end his drought with a couple of goals.
