The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has clarified that recent media reports
linking the arrest of popular social media activist Martins Otse, also known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), to multiple petitions are false
In a statement shared on its official Facebook page on Monday, the EFCC described the
reports—originally attributed to BBC News Pidgin—as inaccurate and urged the public to disregard the claims.

BBC News Pidgin had reported that EFCC spokesperson Dele Oyewale confirmed VDM’s arrest, allegedly stating: We will release him if he meets his bail conditions, and we will take the case to court as soon as possible.
However, the EFCC maintains that the narrative presented in the report is misleading.
