Breaking News: The Federal Government has clarified that defection to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) will not shield any corrupt governors or political office holders from prosecution.

Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Prince Lateef Fagbemi, SAN, in a statement released through his media aide Mr. Kamarudeen Ogundele, said the current administration under President Bola Tinubu remains committed to the rule of law and fighting corruption without favoritism.

Breaking News: AGF Responds to Atiku’s Aide

This breaking news follows a recent statement by Mr. Paul Ibe, an aide to former Vice President and PDP presidential candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, who claimed that EFCC officials and the Solicitor General met with two governors ahead of their defection to the APC.

The AGF refuted the claims, calling them “a figment of imagination” and stated that no such meeting ever took place.

“The allegation is from the pit of hell,” said the AGF. “We appeal to the public to disregard the insinuation as it is a feeble attempt to discredit the administration’s anti-corruption efforts.”

EFCC Also Denies Secret Meetings

In a separate breaking news update, the EFCC, through its spokesperson Mr. Dele Oyewale, strongly denied the accusations. The anti-graft agency emphasized that its Chairman, Mr. Ola Olukoyede, did not meet with any politician regarding defection or political negotiations.

“The public is enjoined to disregard the alleged meeting with the unnamed governor as it only exists in the imagination of Mr. Ibe,” the EFCC said in a press release.

This breaking news further cements the administration’s position on maintaining transparency and non-partisan efforts in the fight against corruption.
