Bernd Leno has been impressed with Martin Odegaard during the midfielder’s first few days with Arsenal, and he thinks the fans should be excited.
Martin Odegaard completed his loan move to Arsenal earlier this week, after the Gunners fought off interest from the likes of Tottenham Hotspur, Real Sociedad, and Leicester City for the temporary transfer.
He took the number 11 shirt and made his debut from the bench against Manchester United on Saturday. Unfortunately, it was only for the final 15 minutes of a very tight game, so we didn’t get a very good look at the 22-year-old.
Bernd Leno has been keeping a closer eye on the new signing in training this week, and he only had positive things to say.
“I think we should all be very excited because he is an attacking midfield player who is turning, wants to go forward, wants to play passes and create chances and have assists,” Leno said.
“In his first days he has been very impressive and has been very open to everyone, and I think we will have a lot of fun with him in the next months.”
We may well see the young Real Madrid talent making his first start next week, with the games coming thick and fast and Emile Smith Rowe’s recent injury concerns.
You’d hope Odegaard would jump at the chance, given this is why he pushed for a loan. He wanted to get out on the pitch, so it’s up to him to show why there’s so much excitement around his acquisition.
